Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
Like most success stories, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art started with big dreams. However, the museum, located in Kansas City, Missouri had exceptional means by which to make its dream come true. Philanthropists William Rockhill Nelson and Mark Atkins shared a common desire to enrich Kansas City with fine art. Both left a significant amount of their estate to building a museum. It is only too bad that they could not witness the supreme structure that was built from their generosity.
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art has existed since the early 1930s and has become nationally recognized for its outstanding collection of artwork, exhibits, and educational services. The art collection features works by artists from all over the world, including Africa, China, America, and Europe. The exhibits at the museum change frequently and are free of charge, unless specified as a private exhibit. The Ford Learning Center is the heart of the educational services that the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art provides. The museum also offers programs for students. Taking one of the available tours is the best way to learn about the collections at the museum.
During your visit to the Nelson-Atkins Museum you can visit one of the two dining areas. The Rozzelle Court Restaurant is a work of art itself. It features a dramatic design and offers the perfect place to discuss the museum. On the Rozzele Court Restaurant menu are healthy salads, soups, sandwiches, and desserts. The museum also offers casual dining in the Museum Café located in the most recent addition to Block Building, the most recent addition to the museum.
