If you like Louisiana Cuisine, and I don't know who doesn't, the Jazz-A Louisiana Kitchen in Kansas City, MO is the absolute place you have to go. There are two locations in Missouri, so go to the one closest to where you are or check out both on two different nights.
The restaurant on 39th Street has an in house bar for customers to sit and drink while they're waiting for their food to be done, or just waiting to order. They have a full Louisiana style kitchen that offers your choice of Cajun food or their great Creole. If you like the fresh air and sunshine, you and eat outdoor or indoors if you want a low-light romantic setting. They offer live music for your dancing or listening pleasure. There's a dartboard for anyone wanting to better their game of darts. Jazz-A Louisiana has a very casual atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable and at home.
Their location on Prairie View Road offers live entertainment and New Orleans style cuisine and the same comfortable casual setting as their 39th Street location. The emphasis here is on wood as their wood floor, wooden tables and railings give it a very western saloon/restaurant look. The wooden floors are great for dancing to their nightly live music. Many people say this is not the place to try to carry on an intimate conversation, as the music is very loud! The music is great for listening and dancing, being jazz, blues or Dixieland. Some of their favorite foods here are barbecued meats, seafood and their Cajun chicken. Some of their daily specials are pastas, Cajun/Creole combos, crawfish or blackened seafoods.
Monday through Friday gives you Happy Hour from 3 to 6. For $2.99, you can get some great appetizers like buffalo chicken sandwich, jambalaya, popcorn shrimp, voodoo wings, fried pickles, catfish nuggets and many more.
