The Airline History Museum in Kansas City, MO tells stories about different types of airplanes and gives a history of airline travel in its early beginnings. Conceived over two decades ago by a couple of aviation aficionados, the Airline History Museum showcases several propeller-driven airplanes that are truly a model and representation of yesteryear.

The "Star of America" was their first operational and restored model of a Lockheed Super Constellation aircraft and it is often flown in air shows as well as on display at the museum and various aviation exhibits throughout the country. A Martin 404 aircraft has been restored as well as a Douglas DC-3. All of these great models are representative of some of the earliest plane in aviation history.

The Airline History Museum in Kansas City is a must see stop on your itinerary if you are a fan of these early model planes or are just plain interested in aviation period. Located at the Jansas City Downtown Airport, the museum is housed in a large hanger with its own maintenance facility as well as gift shop. The headquarters and offices of the museum are housed in the same place and everything has been run by volunteers.

The hangar is heated so your visit, even in the middle of winter, will be a comfortable one. The hangar which houses the museum is large enough to hold all of the planes in addition to artifacts and the other facilities listed above. You can take tours Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 12:00 Noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $7.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors and children age 6-13 is $3.00. The Airline History Museum wants you to keep in mind that occasionally the planes are out touring the country at air show or exhibits to you may or may not see them during your tour. Rest assured though that there will still be plenty to see and do at the museum!
