Prime F Osborn Convention Center in Jacksonville, FL
The Prime F Osborn Convention Center in Jacksonville, Florida is a 265,000 square foot facility with a fully-equipped 5,000 square foot kitchen.
The convention center was originally the Jacksonville Terminal. It was once considered the railroad gateway to Florida and was built by Savannah, Florida and Western Railway in 1883. In 1894 the company was incorporated by Henry Flagler who owned he Florida East Coast Railway. On January 15, 1897 the depot became known as the Flagler Depot.
In 1919 the second depot opened on the site of the original one. It was used as a terminal up until January 3, 1974. A public-private partnership was started in 1982 by former CSX transportation chairman, Prime F. Osborn III.
After its renovation and restoration, the former Jackson Terminal became the convention center it is today on October 17, 1986. It is now a location for trade shows, boat shows, conventions, meeting, and banquets.
The Prime Osborn Convention Center can provide gourmet service for more than 3,000 guests. It boasts state-of-the-art visual and audio systems and on-site parking for almost 1,000 cars.
The convention center is 20 minutes from Jacksonville International Airport and near many hotels. Within a five-mile radius there are at least 1500 hotel rooms available. The convention center is located on 22 acres of land. While there's a great deal of on-site parking, there are also an additional 4,000 parking spots available within walking distance for those bigger events.
Events that have been held at the Prime Osborn Convention Center include the Southern Women's Show, Christmas Made in the South and Jacksonville Home and Patio Show.
