Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville, FL

Metropolitan Park and Marina in Jacksonville, Florida is located in the city's downtown area. It is an enormous recreational facility that has children's play areas, picnic areas, a 2400 square foot reversible stage and full docking facilities.

The marina part of the Metropolitan Park and Marina is near the Jackson Municipal Stadium on the Northbank of the St. John's River. It's located just west of channel markers G"81" and R"82". The center of the marine entrance is located at N30°19.161' W81°38.467 and the landing area is approximately 1.5 miles west.

The marina can accommodate about 78 boats up to 80 feet long. Slips are available at first-come, first-served, and reservations are only required during special events. Special events include festivals, concerts and college football games at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.

The marina is open daily from 7 in the morning until dusk. The only facilities available for boaters are the restrooms in the park and a complimentary self-service boat pump out station.

The park section of the Metropolitan Park and Marina opened in 1984 and takes up approximately 27 acres. The area is designed for outdoor venues and has generous seating for any event, covered picnic areas, and a play area for children.

The covered picnic areas can each accommodate 100 people. It is suggested that larger groups use the pavilion which can seat 3,000 people. The entire park capacity is 10,000.

Tables and chairs are available to rent. The stage is five feet high and has had several national musicians perform on it, including Hootie and the Blowfish, The Beach Boys, Wynonna, Tony Bennet, James Taylor, Lonestar, Faith Hill, Collective Soul, and Train.
