Little Talbot Island Park in Jacksonville, Florida is a state park with more than five miles of white sandy beaches. It is one of the few undeveloped barrier islands in Northeast Florida.
The park is open from 8 am to sundown 365 days a year. Eco-historic tours of the area are available from Ecomotion Tours, a full-service touring company that mainly provides tours of Fort George Island and Little Talbot Island.
Park fees are $4.00 per vehicle with up to eight passengers. A car with a single occupant pays $3.00. Motorcycle fees are also $3.00. Pedestrians, cyclists and extra passengers pay a fee of $1.00 per person.
Camping is available and the $19.00 per day in the full-facility campground for a full-service campsite. There is also a youth/group tent campground. The youth camping fee is $1.00 per youth and $2.00 per chaperoning adult.
Little Talbot Island Park is home to many different types of wildlife including bobcats, river otters, marsh rabbits, and migrating and native birds. Many people who visit the park like to fish in the surf and tidal streams. Those who fish can catch redfish, striped bass, bluefish, mullet, flounder, sheepshead and bluefish.
Near most of the beaches are picnic pavilions that visitors to the park can use to enjoy a relaxing outdoor meal. Guided paddle tours of the inland waters are available courtesy of Kayak Amelia. Advance reservations are required. The facility also rents kayaks.
Fireworks, firearms and alcohol are not permitted in the park. Removing of plants, rocks and soil is also is also prohibited. There are numerous recreational activities for those with disabilities. Those interested should contact the ranger station.
