Bistro Aix in Jacksonville, FL

Founded in 1999, the Bistro Aix in Jacksonville draws its name from the French Town of Aix-en-Provence. It is this quaint, bustling bistro-like experience that Bistro Aix aims to recreate through its spectacular food, cozy ambience and exceptional service.

The eclectic menu, courtesy head Chef Tom Gray, is largely Mediterranean inspired and includes several creative depictions of traditional recipes. The lunch menu includes exotic appetizers like Assorted Olives which are served with a drizzle of olive oil and fresh herbs and the succulent Mussels which are steamed in white wine and served with a saffron aioli. You can even try some of their delicious sandwiches which include the highly recommended Portobello and Prosciutto version with sun dried tomatoes, Arugula and Boursin cheese layered on Ciabatta bread or the heartier Warm Roast Beef sandwich which combines sautéed peppers, provolone and a selection of Gruyere cheeses.

Then there's always the wood-fired handmade pizza to savor which features the outstanding six cheese version and the phenomenal Prosciutto. The Dinner Menu features a more comprehensive selection of pastas and meat, fish and poultry specialties. Of these the Filet Mignon and Oak-Fired Fish 'Aixoise' which is an appetizing array of lobster mushrooms, corn, favas, tomatoes, pancetta  doused over with a corn sauce, make for an unforgettable Bistro Aix dining experience. The wine list is extensive and features over 250 selections of wines of Californian and Mediterranean origin with a choice of 50 wines by the glass.

The highlight of your meal at Bistro Aix is sure to be the sinful selection of desserts. The home made lemon curd filled Coconut cake, and the Bistro Aix Carrot Cake with its exquisite cream cheese icing, are the perfect end to a satisfying meal.

Bistro Aix's ambience is as exquisite as the food it offers. The warm brick walls are lined with custom designed furniture, muted lighting and large mirrors to recreate the coziness of a typical French café. You can even view hand-picked collection of French imported antiques and pottery, the exhibition kitchen and the spectacular marble and copper topped 'Chef's Bar'. The Bistro also offers you the alternative of dining on the outdoor patio when the weather permits. Here, you experience is accentuated by the picturesque flower pots, the sparkling fountains and flowering vine-draped trees.

You can even have the Bistro host your corporate meetings or private celebration at any of their dining halls. The staff will cater to all your requirements, right from the décor to the audio-visual equipment your event calls for, to create a one-of-a-kind experience.

The restaurant is open from 11 am to 10 pm, Monday through Thursday, 11 am to 11 pm on Friday, 5 pm to 11 pm on Saturday and 5 pm to 9 pm on Sunday.  You can even stop by for the limited mid-menu which is served between 2.30 pm and 5 pm from Monday to Friday. The restaurant does not accept reservations, but does allow you to call ahead for preferred seating.
