Spud Drive-In in Driggs, ID
Spud Drive-In in Driggs, ID is a piece of history that is a throwback to the 1950s. In fact, it opened in 1953 originally! The drive-in is an incredible way to watch a movie — in the presence of the Grand Teton Mountains. If you are new to the beautiful area of Idaho, the mountain view just might draw your attention away from the movie! If you are just passing through doing the tourist thing, you will definitely want to make the Spud Drive-In an absolute stop. Wrap yourself up in nostalgia and have an experience that many people these days don't get to have.
Spud Drive-in is also a tourist destination all on its own thanks to the flatbed truck with a giant spud on the back of it. The current owners of the drive-in thought it would be a hoot to duplicate an old postcard that depicted a truck hauling potatoes. It was so quirky and fun that its uniqueness just caught on. Now anyone passing through Highway 33 South in Driggs, Idaho has to stop and get a picture with the really big potato.
This drive-in may only be open on Fridays and Saturdays but they do not play old tired movies. Instead they have new first run movies available to watch on the truly big screen. In addition, kids under age 8 get in free while adults are $8.00 dollars. It is a cheap night out for the entire family. Plus you can eat there too ... they have a great little snack bar with the requisite snack bar food like hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, French fries, potato skins and more. Be sure to make Spud Drive-in a stop on your itinerary through Idaho.
