The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar is located at the heart of Jackson Hole. As its name suggests, it has a cowboy theme - around the bar you'll see the famous western cowboy flare motif, the signature saddle barstools and cowboy murals on the walls, and also come face-to face with life-size wolf and grizzly bear animal mounts.
The Cowboy Bar was bought by Ben Goe in 1937 and was the first bar in the state of Wyoming to be granted a liquor license after the end of prohibition. At this time the bar interior changed and its distinctive pine features were installed. In the mid-1940s the bar was sold to Preston Parkinson who changed the name to The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, and added the neon sign that can still be seen at the entrance. Its present owner, Art Anderson, has put together a huge collection of western memorabilia that can be seen all around the bar.
The bar has its own Million Dollar Cowboy Bar Beer — a golden ale brewed specially by the Grand Teton Brewing Company which is available in a decorative wooden case. Jack Daniels is served from a single barrel, that holds 24 bottles of whiskey and the bar stocks a great selection of Californian wines. Philly's Phinest Grill serves steaks, burgers, and fish and chips.
The Bar is renowned for its live music performances and swing dancing six nights a week. It has featured the best from the world of country and western including Willie Nelson, Tanya Tucker, Waylon Jennings and the James Cotton Blues Band. The bar is a popular pitstop for bikers traveling through Jackson on their way to the Sturgis bike rally.
