Gun Barrel Steak & Game House in Jackson, WY
If you are a person that loves the look of the wild west or enjoys that taste of red meat, then going to the Gun Barrel Steak & Game House, which is in Jackson, Wyoming; is the place for you!
The Gun Barrel Steak & Game House is a locally owned restaurant that got its name from the small Texas town of Gun Barrel City. The restaurant actually opened the doors in 1993; however, it was formally known as the Wyoming Wildlife Museum and Taxidermy!
When the museum was turned into the restaurant, the structure was completely redone. In fact, it is now made with lodgepole pine; where the logs were hand-peeled right in the parking lot! The mural on the outside west wall is a re-creation of The Buffalo Hunt by Bierstadt. Inside, there are still many artifacts from the history of Wyoming that are still on display! Also, most of the fixtures that are in the Gun Barrel Steak & Game House were specially designed for it; which include the light fixtures, ironwork, the mesquite grill and the tables.
When it comes to the best part of all, the food there is a variety of things to choose; however, you must like to eat meat! In fact, some of the items on the menu that you may choose form are:
· Appetizers: venison bratwurst, Snake River potato boats (stuffed potato skins), fried green tomatoes, and a buffalo wrap.
· Soup & Salad: soup of the day, chicken Caesar salad, or a tossed salad.
· Cattlemen's Call & Game Fare (Meals which are served with potatoes or rice): Classic New York Strip, Big Sky Ribeye, Velvet Elk, Buffalo Sirloin, or the Mixed Game Grill (mixture of elk, buffalo, beef, and venison).
· Best of the West (Simple meals): Baby Back Ribs, Rainbow Trout, Roast Pork, Mesquite Chicken
· Last Frontier (Dessert): Crème Brulee, Deep Dish Apple Pie, Bread Pudding or Fruit Cobbler.
