For many visitors, the magnificent scenery of this location is enough to provide memories for years to come. Some travelers, however, must have something more to take away with them and at Grand Teton National Park the park bookstore is the place to gather tangible evidence of a visit.
Perhaps the best place to begin, other than actually walking through the door of this extensive bookstore, is with the Grand Teton Association (GTA). This group was formed in 1937 specifically to provide information and materials to visitors. In the 70 years since its founding the GTA has offered educational and interpretive materials, books and maps in space provided by the National Park Service.
The Grand Teton Park Book Store is located in the Moose Visitor Center 12 miles north of Jackson, Wyoming. This intriguing center offers exhibits on endangered species, introductory video on the park and, of course, the amazing bookstore. When visitors purchase a book or other item at the park bookstore, funds are directed to educational and scientific programs for Grand Teton National Park. All the profits help finance new publishing efforts and enhance the education programs offered by the park staff. Annual GTA memberships are available. Members receive a 15 percent discount on purchases.
Moose Visitor Center is the only Grand Teton visitor center open year-round. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closing hours are extended to 7 p.m. in the summer). Moose Visitor Center is closed on December 25. More information about Moose Visitor Center, the bookstore and Grand Teton National Park is available by calling (307) 739-3399.
