The Dancer's Workshop provides education and performance opportunities for children and adults in Jackson, Wyoming. The Workshop's studios and offices can be found on the second floor of the Center for the Arts, which itself is a local landmark and provides space for over 20 art and creative programs. The Workshop has four naturally-lit studio spaces and use of the more intimate Black Box Theatre. It has been offering classes since 1971, and works with over 350 students and 125 adults. It has worked with over 20,000 students through its educational and performance programs.
The Center offers over 60 weekly classes from beginner to advanced levels in modern, ballet, tap, jazz, ballroom, and African flamenco and hip hop. Classes for young children include Mommy and Me for children up to 3 year olds, and Kinder Steps, Dance and Tech classes for pre-schoolers. There are also a range of adult and teen fitness classes including pilates, power yoga, and ski fitness. The Dance Workshop has around 10 experienced and award-winning instructors, who have toured with national and international dance companies, and include specialists in African dance and drumming, belly dancing from Egypt and Turkey, alongside the more traditional dance forms - ballet, modern and tap. Guest instructors are also welcomed to the Workshop and present their own masterclasses.
Contemporary Dance Wyoming, the resident dance company at the Dancer's Workshop, was formed by the current artistic director, Babs Case, in 1999. The dance company was the first modern dance company in Wyoming, and tours across the region presenting dance performances for the public and demonstrations in schools.
