La Madera Beach in Ixtapa, Mexico
La Madera Beach in Ixtapa, GR is really just a small parcel of sand that lies between the Municipal Beach and a long, jutting projection of rocks over which a road passes. Small means that you are likely to have a bit more of the beach to yourself as others may head to larger destinations.
La Madera Beach also know as Playa La Madera does have some offerings for its visitors like enough waves for the beginning surfer, beach property for lounging and making sand castles and plenty to look at with the hotels, condos, cottages, restaurants and shops that line the beach area. It's a great place to walk and sightsee if you are fond of just looking at all the sites.
There is a nice walkway along the beach which provides a great view of the Bay of Zihatanejo. Because it does go across rocky outcroppings, it is suggested that you always walk with a partner during the daytime hours to avoid losing your footing, even though there are lights installed in the area.
It is the views of the bay that really grab you and make you want to linger a while. The walkway meanders along the shoreline and you can see quite a few sites along La Madera Beach. Be sure to slip a few pebbles from the pebble beach you will likely encounter along the path and don't be surprised to be splashed by some of the waves that crash against the rocky walk! It is always refreshing to walk La Madera Beach in Ixtapa Mexico.
