El Infierno y La Gloria in Ixtapa, GR is located in La Puerta shopping plaza. It is a cross between a cozy little cantina and a restaurant. The locals enjoy the place because of its ambience, stiff drinks and karaoke nights. The tourists enjoy it because the whole place seems different from the rest of the "normal" Mexican restaurants in the area.
The arched front and red tiled roof play into the Latin influence of El Infierno Y La Gloria. When you enter, the place is like a warehouse only there are different areas made up to resemble a small town. One part looks like the plaza of an old little town while another looks like a small Mexican cantina. The kitchen area resembles the look of a ranch house while other areas of the place like the dining and lounging areas appear to be reminiscent of other old buildings you would expect in a charming, yet dusty little Mexican town. The overall effect is a bit kitschy for the locals but many visitors seem to enjoy the funkiness.
Luckily the food wins some more people over with their traditional Mexican cuisine with heavy influence on green sauce, sesame seeds, guacamole, cilantro, salsa, carne asada and more. The tortillas and beans are plentiful here and tasty too. You will find plenty of choices of appetizers, drinks, entrees and even desserts on the menu.
Be sure to ask the waiters for suggestions if you get stumped on what to order. They know what the restaurant does best. Be sure to check out El Infierno Y La Gloria in Ixtapa Mexico when you get hungry.
