Wolf Park - Battle Ground near Indianapolis, IN is a research and educational part that opened in 1972 for the purpose of studying the behavior of wolves. Located on a 75-acre farm, Wolf Park is near Battle Ground and open from May through November of each year. In addition to the tours that are offered by Wolf Park, they also offer seminars for those that want more in depth learning. Wolf Park is a nonprofit organization and research center that was developed by Dr. Erich Klinghammer. Wolf Pack also has a webpage and online gift shop. They also have a club or group called Wolf Park Kids that offers kid seminars, camps and many kinds of fun and games. Wolf Park offers many interactive programs to the local schools for their curriculum.
Battle Ground is a town created in the mid 1800s by Bishop E.R. Ames and Elder Winans and many of the townspeople. They all got together with the purchasing and surveying of the land, raising funds and began building. Battle Ground, with its population of 1,323, is 7 miles from Lafayette. The town of Battle Ground is well known because of the Battle of Tippecanoe, which took place in 1811. This battles was between American and Native American forces that were led by William Harrison and Tecumseh, a Shawnee chief. It was Harrison's winning of the Battle of Tippecanoe, which helped him to be elected to the United States Presidency many years later. Battle Ground, where the battlefield was located in now part of Wolf Park, a park as well as a museum.
