Waterman's Farm Market in Indianapolis, IN is a family owned and operated business that's been going since 1978. Owned by Bruce and Carol Waterman, the land that Waterman's Farm Market has been in the Waterman family since it was purchased in 1877. The Farm Market offers a wide variety of produce and food products throughout the season. They own this retail business that is based on "pick your own" produce. However, with most families having both people working, there often isn't enough time left over to be picking produce. To help their customers, the Waterman's also sell fresh-picked produce that they sell in small quantities for daily use or large for canning or freezing.
The market opens in May when strawberry season begins and closes in Thanksgiving. They're open Money through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to allow people to stop before or after work. They've just had their first Annual Strawberry Festival, which was a success for everyone that loves strawberries and strawberry related products.
Throughout the summer, they carry a large variety of some of the best produce including, potatoes, tomatoes, corn, cantaloupe, peas, cucumbers, beans and more. The Fourth of July Market brings a huge crowd of everyone wanting their delicious corn on the cob for picnics and parties.
Just when summer is winding down, the Market is once again busy with apple cider and pumpkin season. Visitors are then invited to attend their Fall Harvest Festival. Waterman's Farm Market has many boy scouts, families and classrooms coming to visit to learn about their farm and market. There is also a friendly staff member to help with any questions as well as give any helpful tips on produce, canning, freezing or giving recipes.
