State Museum Foundation in Indianapolis, IN
If you are a lover of the arts and history, and are in the Indianapolis, Indiana area, then going to the State Museum Foundation would be the place for you!
It was not until May of 2002, that the State Museum Foundation had moved the contents of the old museum into the new museum which is now located in the White River State Park; which is the heart of Indianapolis. In fact, the State Museum brings out the best of the museum world to Indiana!
The best thing about the new building is that it is made from materials that were found or grown in Indiana itself. The building itself is considered to be a work of art! Some of the materials used in the constructing are sandstone, limestone, glass and brick.
The State Museum is a three story museum that has Core Galleries. The Core Galleries are not only galleries, but they tell the story about Indiana as well as the exhibits being shown, and also the art, culture and science from Indiana's past.
When it comes to the museum and the Indiana Story, the story may be changed, as well as the displays! However, there will always be some small part of the collection on display!
What many people like most about the museum is that you never know from day to day what kind of exhibits and artifacts you will see; as they change them quite regularly. In fact, some of the artifacts you may see are early as the Ice Age; which most of the artifacts are fossils.
If you are looking for a specific exhibit, it would be best to check the schedule as you never know when the curators will change the exhibits; however, if you like to see any part of history then you can go on any given day!
