Slippery Noodle Inn at the Tremont House is Indiana's oldest bar. Established in 1850, the Inn is now known as an award-winning live music and blues venue featuring blues acts every night. The wood-paneled walls are adorned with memorabilia and the oak bar is over a hundred years old.
The Slippery Noodle Inn is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It was traditionally owned by German immigrants who had settled in Indianapolis. It has changed names a number of times - in the 1860s it was known as Concordia House, after the first German Lutheran ship to land in America. It was later known as Germania House, until the First World War, when German associations were not so popular. It became the Moore's Beer Tavern in the 1920s, and then Moore's Restaurant during Prohibition. The Yeagy family bought the Inn in the early 1960s and following a family vote is became the Slippery Noodle.
The Slippery Noodle Inn has become renowned music venue and has featured big names from the world of blues include Luther Allison, John Mayall, Albert Collins amd Buddy Miles. The bar has also attracted its fair share of celebrities including Harrison Ford, Robert de Niro and Liza Minelli.
There is a full dinner menu until 11.00pm and also a late night menu selection. Choose from subs, burgers quesadillas, homemade soups, and sandwiches. Dinners include steaks, swordfish, voodoo chicken and pork barbecue. For desserts choose form one of the daily specials or the Chocolate Obsession Cake and Carrot Cake. The Inn features over 50 American, specialty, imported and draft beers, and the Blues Blue, brewed just for the Slippery Noodle.
