Lafayette Square Mall in Indianapolis, IN When it comes to shopping, many people that live in Indianapolis, Indiana think that there is nothing better than the Lafayette Square Mall; which has been opened since 1968.<
Originally, the Lafayette Square Mall was not as big as it is today; however, through the years in order for it to stay up with fashion and competition it had to go through some renovations. In fact, in 1974 there was a wing added to the mall; which put in about 9 different stores.
Because of all the success from the Lafayette Square Mall, DeBartolo (who designed the mall) made plans to build 2 other/additional malls on the opposite side of town. Because of that, the business/shopping started decreasing; which leaves 20-30% of the mall un-occupied. In fact, some of the stores that left the mall are G.C. Murphy, Montgomery Ward's and JC Penney.
If you were to go to the mall today, you would have nothing but fun while shopping, yet. In fact, Lafayette Square Mall is still the home to over 90 different specialty stores.
