Howl at the Moon Dueling Pianos in Indianapolis, IN is a two-piano form of entertainment similar to karaoke. The concept of Howl at the Moon started in 1990 in Cincinnati, Ohio. It instantly became a success and locations were opened in Cleveland, Columbus and Orlando. Royal Caribbean Cruise Line was so impressed that they hired them to entertain their passengers on the ships for two years. Today there are eleven Howl at the Moon locations in the nation, with more seeking good locations.
Held in a nightclub, the stage has two baby grand pianos to go with the talented piano players the nightclub hires to entertain the crowd. In addition, there is always a crowd at the Howl at the Moon locations. The piano players are some of the most talented in the area. Their purpose is to play songs to get the audience to sing along. The two piano players play for an hour and then two new piano players take the stage. At the end of each hour, all four players play two to three songs, adding to the excitement of the audience. They also add other instruments to their performances including guitar, drums, saxophone, etc.
