Easley Winery in Indianapolis, IN When it comes to producing wine Indiana, it has been a long trip for many people.& In fact, for Jack and Joan Easley had many troubles until 1974 when they (along with other people) helped to get the law changed to where they can have wineries in the state of Indiana. The Easley Winery is located in the downtown Indianapolis area.
It was in 1974 that the Easley Winery was opened, and today it is considered to be the oldest family owned wineries in Indiana. In fact, it is now run by Mark and Meredith Easley along with 15 other employees.
When visiting the Easley Winery you will be able to have wine tastings, as they have offer up to 25 different flavors of wine, as well as a tour of the facility; however, the tours are only on Saturdays and Sundays. While on the tours, you will see that there is plenty to offer. In fact, they also have a banquet room for certain events; which seats 80 people.
As for the different types of wines that are made, they have about 20 different types of grape wines, some Indiana Champagne, as well as Mead and three different kinds of fruit wines. Most importantly, they make dry, semi-dry and semi sweet wines. Some of the different flavors available are Vidal Blanc, Chancellor, and Indiana Champagne (dry wines), Niagara, Orchestra Red, and Raspberry (semi-dry wines) and Barrel White, Barrel Red and Cherry (semi sweet wine). Also, because of the demand for the wines (in gallons), they are now purchasing grapes from 8 different grape growers now.
When going to the Easley Winery, you will have a great time; especially when you take the tour and sample some of the many wines!
