Connor Prairie is an exciting outdoor museum where visitors can travel back in time and learn about life from the costumed 'residents'. The Museum Center houses exhibits from the 19th century in the Johnson-Weaver Gallery, and an orientation audio-visual presentation.
Discover 19th century rural life at Liberty Corner where visitors can attend the local school, visit the Quaker meeting house and meet the Zimmermans who live in the Victorian farmhouse. Prairietown is a re-creation of a pioneer village dating from the 1830s. Here you can meet the local residents and get involved in the activities. Visit the Golden Eagle Inn, Dr Campbell's Home, the schoolhouse and blacksmith shop.
At the Lenape Indian Camp visitors can experience the lives of the Lenape, the Delaware, Indians and fur traders. Have a go building a wigwam, grinding corn or try your luck in a tomahawk throwing contest. Lastly the Prairie Homestead features life in what was probably the first brick house in Indiana. Costumed guides lead tours around the house where you'll learn about the owners and its history.
Outside you'll find the timber-frame barn, large gardens and farm animals where you can pet the calves and lambs. Visitors can also learn about Connor Prairie's role in preserving rare breeds.
The Eatery and Museum Shop are both located in the Museum Center building. The Museum organizes a range of dining programs including 'Taste of the Past' where visitors can enjoy specialty meals and learn about historic culinary practices, and 'Hearthside Suppers' - where you can experience preparing and tasting dishes from the 19th century.
