Zoo Year's Eve
December is a time of celebration as the holiday season engulfs the Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens. The zoo grounds are decked up with holiday decorations and special shows are the highlight of the season. New Year 's Eve, or should we say "Zoo Year's Eve", is a great time to get your family together and head out to the zoo. From 5 pm to 9 pm on the 31st of December, Indianapolis Zoo celebrates Zoo Year's Eve with great gusto. A spectacular dolphin show is part of the calendar on this day. There are many school choirs & carolers who sing their way through the entire zoo. There is the Holiday Train that takes you around the zoo, to each and every corner & display. Of course, when you get tired, there are the snacks bars & drinks outlets to satisfy a hungry tummy.
The White Gardens are host to miniature villages, which have beautiful mini trains running through them. The detail level on these villages and trains is awe-inspiring. To finish off 4 wonderful hours, you have the laser light show. The show is wonderful and ends with a countdown to the New Year, at 9 pm. Tickets for Zoo Year's Eve are available online in advance. Members' tickets cause $6 whereas non-members need to pay $8 for their tickets. Tickets are also available at the zoo on the day of the event although the prices increase to $10 for non-members and $8 for members.
The Zoo Year's Eve celebration is the ideal way to spend your New Year's Eve with your family and the best part is that since the event finishes by 9 pm, it gives you time to go back to your homes and spend quality time together to usher the New Year in.
