Annual Faculty and Best of Student Exhibitions at the Indianapolis Art Center
Open to the public, this yearly event starts with showing work done by the faculty as well as the Best of Student Show Winners. The Indianapolis Art Center was started in 1934 to provide employment for artists after the Great Depression.
The Indianapolis Art Center's mission is to employ professional artists as faculty, exhibiting the work of working artists through exhibitions especially in the Annual Faculty and Best of Student Exhibitions as well as selling artist-made gifts and are. The Art center is the place not just to make art but to show it, see it and buy it. At the moment, more than 250 art classes and workshops are offered to people of all abilities and levels of skill.
Faculty winner of the year is Shirley Carr is scheduled to have a solo exhibition located in the Art Center's Ruth Lilly Library. Fourteen of her impeccable works will be available for both looking at and acquiring. Shirley Carr is an instructor at the Art Center for twenty years and is a founder and cardinal fellow of the Watercolor Society of Indiana.
David Owen, three-time Best of Student Show winner is scheduled to exhibit his work in a solo exhibition in the Allen W. Clowes Gallery located inside the Art Center. David has been a student of pastel and oil classes at the Art Center for the past three years.
