San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site in LaPorte, TX


Preserving the history of Texas and the United States, the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site is located in La Porte, Texas.

The site is where the Battle of San Jacinto was fought and brought Texas its independence from Mexico. 

Led by General Sam Houston, Texan troops defeated a Mexican Army led by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna on April 21, 1836.

Now, the 1,200 acres site is of state, national, and international significance, commemorating the Battle and preserving the Battleground.
