Sam Houston Park in Houston, Texas is located on Bagby Street. Visitors to this location will find it to be an inviting journey through time. Many of the city's oldest buildings are located in this park. Some date back to the 18th century and provide a unique story to the visitor. Most of the homes have been restored to their original grander and include pieces from their original design and construction. Most of these buildings also are furnished with artifacts and pieces that are either original to the building or authentic to the time period. This makes for an exciting history lesson for the young and old.
Some of the buildings located in Sam Houston Park include the Old Place which is dated to 1823. Kellum Noble House, a prominent family in the city is also located here and dates back to 1847. Visitors can tour other homes including the Nichols Rice Cherry House, the Pillot House and the San Felipe Cottage. Others include Staiti House, Saint John Church and the Yates House. Each of these buildings a range of different artifacts and time pieces and they all tell a story. Also at the Sam Houston Park is the Museum of Texas History. You can view each of the displays there which includes some of the Heritage Society's items.
Visitors can tour most of these buildings with both guided and self guided tours. The park is available most days during the day. Also found within is John B Connally Plaza which is an outdoor facility that can be booked for various events in advance. The Tea Room also provides facilities for events including weddings and corporate functions.
