Texas has many interesting tourist attractions for people of all different interests. NASA is probably one of the few sites that all generations and genders will enjoy visiting. There is so much to see and learn at NASA. NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX is a very high-tech administration whose mission and goals are to continue with space exploration, aeronautics research and every kind of possible scientific discovery. NASA has been going strong for over 50 years and will continue with the highest level.
The NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) was started in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower as a result of the first artificial satellite launch by the Soviet Union. In the 1960s, President John F. Kennedy directed NASA towards sending astronauts to the moon. With the help of Gemini and Mercury projects, NASA had the technology to complete this journey. In the late 1960s, the first men, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon.
Since that time, NASA has continued to focus on continuing with the aeronautics research program while developing newer applications in the technology of space. They'll also focused on creating ship to regularly access space. These are just a few of the research programs that NASA has given to the world.
The general public is always welcome to come visit the many NASA installations as well as take part in their tours. Some of the NASA sites have visitors centers while other have agreements with private firms. You can visit their web page to check on a center you may wish to visit. Although the NASA Headquarters doesn't have a center for visitors, many of the aeronautics and space programs artifacts are located a few blocks away at the National Air & Space Museum.
