The Houston Farm and Ranch Club in Houston, Texas is well known for the history and diversity at the location. It was first founded in 1947 by ranchers that were well off. Today, the ranch is funded in part by area businesses and even youth based organizations. The location has two large buildings. At the Salt Grass Trail Building, you will find a beautiful gazebo perfect for picture taking. There is also a kitchen here. The other building, McAnelly Hall provides for a preparation room and other amenities. There is a covered arena and a concession area. This area can be rented out for corporate events, weddings or other social needs. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo uses the facility for its needs as well. An additional building, called Rip's Retreat is located on the grounds as well and serves to provide small meetings in its 625 square feet. About 50 people can meet here.
The ranch itself is run on a volunteer basis, for the most part. All proceeds from the location are then used to help maintain the ranch itself. Annual events that occur here include the Hold'Em and Hit'em Club, the Hot Sauce Festival, The Italian Festival, the Houston Highland Games, various cookoffs and dog shows.
For those considering booking the Houston Farm and Ranch Club for their private event, wedding, or other event, plan in advance as the location is quite popular. This volunteer location is available for tours and other events as well, when booked in advance.
