Just south of downtown Houston on nearly 500 acres, Hermann Park in Houston, TX features a fantastic zoo, interesting science museum, gardens, and wide open spaces for families to enjoy nature near the heart of Houston. You and your family can stroll around the lake and through the gardens enjoying the fountains, reflecting pool, and historic monuments.
In addition to the over 4,500 animal species housed here, there's a children's zoo, an aquarium filled with exotic aquatic animals, and many other usual exhibits. The Natural Encounters facility gives visitors a nose to nose experience with animals.
The Houston Museum of Natural Science is also in Hermann Park and features some amazing permanent exhibits which are extremely kid friendly. The museum also boasts a planetarium, a 3D Imax theater, and a beautiful butterfly exhibit.
