Located at Travelair Road in Houston, the 1940 Air Terminal Museum is a must visit for aeronautics enthusiasts of all ages.
The Airline Galleries combine cutting edge aviation technology with contemporary art by means of their comprehensive selection of original aviation art, period photographs, artifacts and scale aircraft models and even view uniforms and documents pertaining to established carriers of repute like Continental Airlines, Delta and Southwest Airlines. History buffs can also learn more about the legacy of plastic model airplanes and view exquisite examples of box art. The Aviation Meteorology and Air Traffic Control Galleries is yet another feast of aviation-aficionado eyes with their vintage weather and ATC equipment which feature teletypes, radios and light guns. The Galleries also offer you the one-of-a-kind opportunity to travel through Houston's aviation history with their interpretative exhibits, while also taking you on a walk down memory lane to when man first learnt how to fly.
Pint-sized inquisitive minds will undoubtedly delight in the Children's Dream of Flight Gallery, which lets their imagination soar with vintage aviation toys, game, books and even a reading library for them to gain their first taste of aviation literature. The Galleries also host a number of rotating exhibitions which showcase the talent of several up-and-coming aviation artists, while the legendary Wings and Wheels event invites aircraft owners and pilots to bring their winged mechanical friends along to one of the most spectacular fly-ins in the country.
If you're looking to take a break from your exciting museum tour, simply head over to the Airport Viewing Area and watch the magnificent modern-day birds take flight and disembark at the Houston Hobby Airport.
