The Art League of Hilton is dedicated to showcasing the talent of local artists while also preserving Hilton Head Island's rich tradition of fine arts in diverse media.
The Gallery, which is located at Pineland Station, is an apt representation of their purpose and displays an array of paintings, sculptures and handicrafts by artists who are members of the Art League. Here, you will find exquisite photography by the acclaimed Fran Hubbell which is based on the theme of the fragile nature of the beauty of nature and the mounting need to preserve it. The photographs depict locales as diverse as the Canadian Rockies and the torrid environs of Botswana. You can even view beautiful pine needle baskets and sculptures by Donna Ireton who uses natural materials like driftwood to fashion fine pieces which bear unique and telling titles like 'Simplicity' and 'Moonlight Walk'.
You can even visit the Annual Members Show which displays collections like 'Fabulous Fakes' which includes copies of masterpieces and the 'Miniature Art Series' where you can purchase outstanding masterpieces which make excellent holiday gift ideas.
The Art League also conducts a variety of workshops for enthusiasts of every age and diverse skill levels. You can learn the nuances of oil painting by Craig Srebnik at his workshop titled 'Secrets from the Masters, Painting Flesh Tones and the Figure', the fine art of pastels by Sally Strand at 'The Color of light' and mixed-medium art by Eydi Lampasona where you can learn to make intricate collages.
