Dolphin Cruises at Broad Creek Marina on Hilton Head Island, SC

The Broad Creek Marina near Hilton Head Island in South Carolina has a series of dolphin tours visitors and tourists can enjoy. Tours are completed on the Island Queen. The Island Queen is a 45-foot covered boat. It is Coast Guard licensed and can carry approximately 40 passengers. The boat is also used for other nature trips and gatherings such as wedding, parties, school trips, family or class reunions, anniversaries and birthdays.

Tours are narrated and typically last 1.5 hours. Guests are required to bring their own cameras. Tickets for adults cost $14 and children under 12 ride for $7. Senior discounts are available. Group rates also available. Tours run several times during the day including in the evening.

Another boat used for tours is the SS Pelican. The SS Pelican is a 21-passenger covered boat that is driven by Captain Sonny Compher. He is also the narrator for the tour and has been narrating tours for about 20 years.

Those who take the tour will also get to see otter, Osprey, sea turtles, Snowy Egrets, Pelicans, Cormorants, and Great Blue Herons.

The dolphins will likely see are regulars and have been named. There is Freckles, Dolly, Flipper, Rambo and a few other regulars.

Cruises are family oriented and those who take them can enjoy other activities after the tour. These activities include dock fishing, charter fishing, or enjoying a picnic dinner at the picnic tables near the marsh.

Twice a week the cruise is lead with the Coastal Discovery Museum on Milton Head. Reservations for these cruises must be made with the museum.
