The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina is an award-winning venue for performance and visual arts. Every year the Center produces five plays or musicals, and welcomes visiting performers, artists and musicians.
The Center has a 350-seat theater and two smaller venues used for youth theater and workshops. The Walter Greer Gallery provides a great space for the visual arts, and the work of national and local community artists is exhibited here. Throughout the year the Arts Center has a full program of performing artists from the world of pop, jazz, singer-songwriters, and choral music featuring the Center's resident company 'The Hallelujah Singers'. Other acts come from a variety of genres including puppeteers, illusionists, and circus acts.
The Center has cultural themes running through its program, and often features work by African-American artists, the South Carolina's Gullah culture, and has hosted award-winning Native American Dancers. There are also a number of free outdoor festivals including the Holiday Tree Lighting, the Taste of Gullah, and Fiesta Latina featuring a whole host of local and national artists.
The Center is a great place to celebrate a children's birthday party. Each themed party is run by an art instructor, and your child will have fun making a take-home project. The Center also hosts special events such as galas, receptions, award ceremonies, and business meetings. The staff can assist with decorations, hiring of equipment and menu planning. The box office is open Monday to Friday 10.00am - 5.00pm (til curtain on performance days): Saturday and Sunday Noon - curtain.
