Pride of the Susquehanna near Hershey, Pennsylvania is an old-fashioned riverboat owned and operated by the Harrisburg Riverboat Society Inc. It's an authentic stern-driven paddlewheel riverboat that offers a variety of cruises from May to October.
It is one Pennsylvania's most popular and unique summer attractions and has often been referred to as "The Prettiest Little Riverboat East of the Mississippi."
The paddle wheeler was build more than 20 years ago. It was to serve the people and visitors of the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area, and was built as a community service project.
It was launched as a tourist attraction under the leadership of a local businessman by the name of Mike Trephan. It's been used for private parties, weddings, business meetings and even ice cream socials. Luncheons and evening cruises are popular, and the paddleboat also hosts Murder Mystery Dinner Cruises. The Pride has also been used by The Susquehanna River School as a educational resource and floating classroom.
On the paddleboat's 20th season in operation, the Harrisburg Riverboat Society invested $50,000 in renovations and refurbishments.
Public cruises are available every day excluding Mondays in June, July and August. There are group reservations available for tour groups, bus groups, school groups, senior groups and business groups. Throughout the Pride's running season various specialty cruises are organized. Specialty cruises include cruises like the Italian Festival Cruise and the Pirates on the Pride Cruise.
Private Charters on the Pride of the Susquehanna are available for many different special events.
Reservations are suggested, especially for popular specialty cruises. Rates vary from $23.50 to around $50.
