Mister Ed's Elephant Museum near Hershey, PA is probably the largest and definitely the most unique elephant collection in the world. As you've probably guessed, Mr. Ed has a love for elephants and has for many years. Mister Ed's collection of elephant's started on his wedding day, but Mr. Ed's Elephant Museum wasn't started until 1975. Mr. Ed loved the elephant that he got as a wedding gift so much that he began collecting them. When his collection reached 6,000, his wife insisted he get them out of the house, so he started the museum.
His collection has since grown even larger containing items like elephant toilets and elephant hair dryers and everything elephant he can get his hands on. The elephant museum, which is located in Orrtanna, is open every day at 10 a.m. and usually closes around 5 p.m. that is unless someone comes in with an elephant at the last minute! Mr. Ed takes donations of anything elephant related or may even buy them from people if he really likes them.
Mr. Ed's Elephant Museum has more than just elephants to interest the customers and their children. There is a large candy room with any old-time favorite candy you can think of. Many say this is the largest candy collection they have ever seen. Mr. Ed also has a truck full of more Pez and magnets than you'll see in a lifetime. There is also a unique little gift shop with the most unusual gifts from all over the world.
For the fish lover, there is an outdoor fish pond that is watched by Commander Robert Eli and Miss Ellie Phant, his friend. They will keep you company as you observe the fish.
Whether it's an elephant potty chair or an elephant lamp, everywhere you look you will see some sort of elephant, each with its own story, as Mr. Ed will gladly share. Besides having tons to do while you are there, admission is free!
