The Halifax Citadel National Historic Site in Halifax, NS with it's rich history as the principal naval station in the British Empire. The prices are reasonable and well worth it to any North American history buff.
Completed in 1856, the Citadel is one of several military fortifications used by the British to secure the empire's stronghold in the new colony.This particular site was built specifically to defend against a land attack by the United States. With it's star shaped structure, it is no surprise that it took 28 years to build.
