A professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Green Bay Packers hold the record for the most NFL League championships. The team, which was formed in 1919, has now come to be known as a symbol of Green Bay's excellence in the national arena of football.
It is in honor of this celebrated team that the legendary Green Bay Packer Receiver was built. The Green Bay Packers Receiver which is a fiberglass statue of a football player stands 22 feet tall. The statue depicts the player poised for action as he leaps from a tall football to catch a pass. The statue dons a number 88 jersey and is adorned with the typical green, yellow and white colors which have come to stand for the Green Bay Packers.
The Green Bay Packer Receiver found his first home in the Packer Hall of Fame until he was moved in 2003, when the Hall was merged with the Stadium. The statue was then placed in front of the Neville Public Museum until it was replaced in 2005 by a replica depicting the World Trade Center 9/11 mishap.
Today, the famed statue stands before the Title Town Brewery although one of its feet has been displaced by an unfortunate accident. You can view the Receiver on a drive around town or as you step into the brewery for a cold beer.
