Turkey Run Park is an urban hideaway, located just seven miles from downtown Washington, DC. This park contains over 700 acres mostly wooded land and offers a place for a little quiet time amidst your busy vacation. Atop some of the wooded hills are three different picnic areas, so feel free to pack a basket lunch. Picnic areas include tables, trash cans, and restrooms. There are no shelters so bring your sunblock. Grilling is permitted in the park, but there are no grills provided, so bring your own grill and your own fuel. Ground fires are prohibited.
There are miles and miles of trails to explore, but you can only explore on foot, bicycles are not allowed. You won't want to rush by any of this gorgeous scenery, anyway. You can even hike the famous Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail here. There are tons of different plants and animals throughout the park, so bring a camera. You won't want to miss all the photo opportunties that will arise during your stroll through Turkey Run Park.
