Escape to nature in the heart of Washington, DC, at Rock Creek Park, a recreational area that offers visitors a bit of history mixed with outdoor beauty and plenty of area to play and roam. Historical landmarks inside the parking include Civil War remnants of Fort Stevens, Fort DeRussy, and a battleground cemetery, as well as 21 statues and memorial monuments.
Other popular sites within the national park include the colonial Old Stone House, which holds the distinction of being the oldest home in Washington since 1765, and the mills of Peirce Barn.
The park also offers fields, courts, trails, and other areas for soccer, hiking, biking, tennis, fishing, horseback riding, picnicking, and more. The park is located just four miles from the White House and the National Mall.
