Manassas National Battlefield Park near Washington DC
The Manasssas National Battlefield Park, free to visitors, is a park dedicated to two Civil War battles of Manassas, often referred to as the Battles of Bull Run. Visitors to the park can watch a video on the two battles, see artifacts from the battles in the museum, tour the historic sites, and purchase books and merchandise from the bookstore.
This park is one of the major Civil War parks in the National Park Service and has cannons set up like they were during the battles. Plaques descriptive of the officers involved, troop movements and placements are prevalent on the grounds, making this a perfect field trip for young children with a desire to learn American history.
