Located on 17 acres near the Potomac River, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is home to a variety of theatre and musicals, dance and ballet, orchestra, jazz, popular, and folk music, as well as a variety of other diverse performances. The Kennedy Center features over 3,000 performances every year, and offers at least one free performance everyday. The Center strives to touch the lives of millions with a variety of different educational programs and activities including lectures, demonstrations, open rehearsals, dance and music residencies, master classes, competitions, backstage tours, and workshops as well as with performances of artists from all over the world. The Kennedy Center also presents many annual festivals which celebrate cities, countries and different regions of the world. The National Symphony Orchestra also calls the Kennedy Center home and in addition to its regular concert season, presents many different themed festivals each season. Opera, ballet, and dance are also alive and well at the Kennedy Center where many are produced each year as well as a variety of theatre and musicals. The John F.
