The Hillwood Museum & Gardens is a 25 acre estate featuring a variety of exhibits and programs and showcasing a large collection of Russian and French art as well as many lush, unique, and diverse gardens. Marjorie Merriweather Post, Heir to the Post cereal fortune, created the museum and gardens in the early 1950s. She wanted to build a luxurious oasis where she could share here extensive art collection with the public. The museum features a fabulous and expensive collection with decorative arts, faberge, metalwork, ceramics, glass, paintings, furniture, and much more. The mansion has porches and terraces surrounding it, and the gardens seem to flow from the house.
Thousands of flowers as well as trees create a magical paradise. There is a rose garden, Japanese style garden, a French Parterre, cutting garden, greenhouses, and other points of interest.
