The historic Fredericksburg Battlefield is a great place to explore a monumental battle of the Civil War in our nation's history.
The Visitor Center, located at the base of historic Marye's Heights is right along the historic Sunken Road portion of the battlefield. There are two walking trails that allow you to walk the same ground as those who did in 1862, as well as, several other walking trails throughout the area. There are 35 minute guided walking tours along the Sunken Road and over the battlefield grounds that are available throughout the year, except in the winter. In the Visitors Center, there is a 22-minute film, shown every 30 minutes, to tell you about the battle, along with museum exhibits throughout the building that will help you understand the park's story. There is a park historian on duty at all times to answer any questions you may have about the Battle of Fredericksburg and the details and history of the land, and numerous maps and brochures, available at the information desk.
