Fort Washington is a historic fort that used to guard the shoreline as ships sailed in to our Nation's Capitol.
Set on high ground, the fort overlooks the Potomac River and features amazing views of Washington and the Virginia Shoreline. The historic fort is one of the few left that still today stands and is in its original form. Fort Washington is surrounded by a 341 acre park that offers many outdoor recreational activities. There is a playground, hiking and biking trails, picnic areas and much more. Be sure to be on the lookout for deer frolicking or eagles circling at the dawn and dusk hours, as this is not an unusual sight at Fort Washington Park.
