True to its name, the Days Gone By Museum does invite visitors take a brief pit stop in the breakneck pace of modern life, and revisit an era where Delaware was still in its up and coming phases.
The museum, which is located at Woodland in Seaford, houses an extensive collection of artifacts and relics which showcase long-forgotten facets of the history of the legendary Woodland Ferry, established by James Cannon in the 1740s. Since then, the Ferry has been taken over by the State of Delaware, which now maintains the ferry and is responsible for its operation. You can also view restored antique tractors, which have played a tremendous role in the development of this region. On display at the Days Gone By Museum is also a selection of authentic carpenters' tools, painstakingly restored and maintained to offer you a glimpse into an era where all was not mechanized.
The Museum is open to visitors from March to late October, or early November. Tours can be scheduled by prior appointment only. Steeped in nostalgia and meticulous in its portrayal of the yester-year Delaware, the Days Gone By Museum is a must-visit on your next trip to Delaware... be it your first, or one of many more to follow!
