Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Museum in Washington, DC
The DAR Museum showcases a variety of objects from America's past including quilts, clothing, paintings, toys, period rooms, and other artifacts from the 17th, 8th and 19th centuries. The museum's collection began with a beaded bag that belonged to the wife of a Revolutionary War soldier, and today the museum features an impressive collection of objects.
The majority of the items have been handed down from generation to generation and donated to the museum. You'll find guns, swords, and powder horns from the Revolutionary War, a pair of Dolley Madison's earrings, Thomas Jefferson's socks & slippers, China that belonged to George Washington, over 30 furnished and authentic period rooms, and so many more objects from the past.
