Veterans Day at Governor's Palace, near Washington, DC

Veteran???s Day is celebrated at the Governor???s Palace in Colonial Williamsburg in a big way, and America???s service people and their family are given free admission during this weekend. They are presented a red-carpet treatment and even provided discounts at some local Williamsburg motels. If the serviceman is not with the family, they can still gain free admission with proper identification. Colonial Williamsburg is a restored Colonial capitol, and is a wonderful museum of American History. At Veteran???s Day, they present programs honoring our service men and women, both past and present. The main attraction is the Military parade that starts at the Governor???s Palace and proceeds down Duke of Gloucester Street. The Colonial Williamsburg Fife and Drums Corp are featured, but the great thing is all the military people are invited to participate also in the parade! This is a very stirring, patriotic experience for your family. There is also a ceremony following where veterans are honored. Williamsburg, Virginia is located around 150 miles south of Washington, DC.
