Summer Concert Series at Fort Dupont Park

Every summer in Washington DC, Fort Dupont Park puts on its Summer Concert Series, which features local performers of bluegrass, folk, jazz, and rock music. These family-friendly concerts occur every Saturday night throughout the summer and are free and open to the public. Many people come early to get a good spot on the lawn to see the concert - picnic dinners and blankets are commonplace. Taking in an evening outdoor concert is a great way to experience both the balmy summer weather and the local music culture of the nation's capital.

The park itself is one of DC's largest parks, taking up 376 acres of space. The park routinely offers guided nature walks, gardening classes, Civil War educational tours, youth camps and workshops, and environmental presentations. Fort Dupont is the Civil War fort that still exists within the park, a historical site preserved by the National Park Service.
