National Breast Cancer Awareness Month at National Museum of Health and Medicine in Washington, DC
The National Museum for Health and Medicine in Washington, DC, is not just devoted to past practices and historical instruments, but also very aware of current health issues affecting the populace. As a result, they have decided to launch monthly awareness campaigns, which provide free information to the public each month and focus on a different disease.
On October 6th, 2007, the museum will be raising awareness for breast cancer. Any who attend will learn about different kinds of breast cancers there are and how to detect them. An informational video from the American Cancer Society will be shown, which will illustrate that this is not just a woman's illness and go through a patient's treatment options. A question and answer section will follow with a registered oncology nurse. Stay to view the difference between cancerous breast tissue and a healthy sample, or get a free screening. This event is free and takes place between 11am and 2pm.
