The Heart of American Quilt Display is a tribute to the victims of 9/11 and features panels from all the United States as well as many other countries from all around the world.
The quilt began with one panel and was created by the Mount Merci School in Maine, today the quilt is 1/2 an acre in size. It is too heavy to be sewn together and is made up of long pieces of red and blue fabric. White fabric is laid down, and then the panels are placed on top. This memorial provides a way to remember as well as honor those who lost their lives on September 11th.
